NORDEN Returns to CSSC with First Newbuilding Orders in Decades

Wuhan/Copenhagen, 18 March 2026 – China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (‘CSTC’) and CSSC Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd. (‘WS’) have secured a contract with NORDEN for the construction of up to three 23,000DWT ice-class general cargo vessels (GCVs).
These environmentally advanced vessels are designed by CSSC SDARI for the carriage of dry bulk and general cargoes, with an overall length of 165 meters, breadth of 23.4 meters and depth of 13.55 meters. Built to comply with the latest international conventions and regulations, they will further strengthen the renowned Danish owner’s strategic position in the bulk cargo market.

This project marks not only NORDEN’s first newbuilding investment with CSSC in decades, but also underscores CSSC’s leading position in the global shipbuilding industry and WS’s capability to support NORDEN’s sustainability goals and improve its market competiveness for the future. The GCVs are scheduled for delivery in 2028 and 2029.

Qingdao/Athens, 5 January 2026– China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (‘CSTC’) and CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (‘QBS’) have been awarded a contract by Cape Shipping for the construction of up to two VLCCs. The contract was signed via a virtual ceremony.
