CSTC/GSI Signed Eight 49,600 DWT Chemical/Product Oil Tanker Contracts with HENGYI Group

On 18th May 2021, eight 49,600DWT Chemical/Product Oil Tanker shipbuilding contracts were signed by China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd.(GSI) with HENGYI GROUP. Representatives of the CSTC, GSI and HENGYI GROUP signed the shipbuilding contracts.
This project is the first time HENGYI GROUP order vessels from CSSC, while is also the biggest MR orders for CSTC/GSI in recent years. These vessels are energy-saving, environment friendly protection, superior in performance, which fully demonstrates leading market position of CSTC/GSI in the field of MR tanker.
HENGYI GROUP is a large private enterprise specializing in the production of petrochemical and chemical fiber materials. Currently, HENGYI GROUP is the world's largest chemical fiber manufacturer integrating the double industrial chain of PTA-polyester and CPL-nylon. CSTC introduced the latest design of the shipyard to HENGYI GROUP as soon as they learned about the demand for MR tankers. At the same time, they cooperated with the ship owner to actively seek financing, and successfully got the new shipbuilding orders in the overall downturn of product oil tanker market despite fierce competition. The signing of this project not only reflects the company's breakthrough progress in actively exploring the end customer market and expanding the business model of the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, but also further enhances the brand effect of CSTC/GSI in the MR tanker market through the deep cooperation with the first-class domestic petrochemical industries end customers. The cooperative friendship established during this cooperation has laid a solid foundation for further cooperation.

Recently, China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC) and CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (QBS) have inked a contract with a renowned Greek owner for the construction of one Suezmax tanker. This latest deal brings the total number of QBS’s Suezmax orders to three, marking the significant entry of the shipyard into this key ship type newbuilding segment.
