Delivery of the First Domestic Methanol DF 50,000DWT MR Tanker

On  June 17^th, the first vessel of a series of methanol DF 50,000DWT of chemical/product oil tankers, named "Stena Pro Patria", was successfully delivered through “Cloud Conference”. This vessel is built by China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (“CSTC”) and Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd. (“GSI”) as the co-seller, the subsidiaries of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (“CSSC”), for Proman Stena in Cyprus, and it is the first methanol DF power vessel in China for taking order, building and delivery.

This vessel is a methanol DF MR Tanker independently developed and designed by GSI. In the process of design and construction, a series of world-leading technologies on energy-saving, emission reduction and environmental protection were conquered by GSI. The vessel is equipped with an advanced methanol DF driven system and four fuel-driven modes can be used, i.e. fuel, fuel hydrate, methanol and methanol hydrate. This vessel is the first vessel applied with the hydrate scheme, and such scheme can control the combustion state to reduce emissions and meet IMO’s highest level emission requirements without installing waste gas treatment system. The vessel has also deeply optimized the hull line, equipped with a variety of energy-saving devices, which can effectively improve the propulsion efficiency and achieve the purpose of energy-saving.

CSTC actively cooperated with GSI to make the preparation and communicate with owners for the delivery, and finally ensure the vessel achieving the delivery status and realize the vessel to be smoothly delivered via video link by the contractual parties in four places of Sweden, Cyprus, Guangzhou and Shanghai. Such delivery further strengthens communication and cooperation between buyer and seller and lays a solid foundation for smooth delivery of the subsequent vessels.
