Information

On May 22th 2022, one 209,000 DWT LNG Dual Fuel Bulk Carrier was delivered to Singapore ship owner Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte. Ltd. (EPS) online by China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (“CSTC”) and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Company, Ltd. (SWS), two subsidiaries of CSSC. Representatives of EPS, CSTC and SWS signed the delivery documents.

The delivered vessel is the sister vessel of the world’s first 209,000 DWT LNG dual fuel bulk carrier delivered on 28 Jan 2022 and is also the second ship of the project among EPS, CSTC and SWS. The vessel is a new generation type of dual-fuel power with independent intellectual property rights developed and designed by SWS. With LOA of 299.5m, breadth of 50m, design draft of 18.4m and speed of 14 knots, the delivered vessel is powered by LNG and conventional diesel fuel and equipped with two C-type LNG fuel tanks with gas range of 20,000 nautical miles, which can meet the shipping requirements of two round-trips from China to Australia or one round-trip from China to Brazil at a time. In LNG-fueled mode, the ship has basically eliminated emissions of particulate matter and sulfide, and the EEDI has been reduced by 41% compared to the baseline, meeting the requirements of the IMO Tier Phase 4 specification and possessing green, environmental, energy-efficient and safety features.

The project was contracted at the end of 2019 and constructed during Covid-19 pandemic with travel restrictions and other difficulties. Pandemic suddenly hit again before the delivery bringing difficulties to production and personnel arrangement. In the face of barriers, CSTC and SWS took precautions and planed delivery in advance, overcame the inconvenience of working from home and actively communicated with the ship owner online, which ensured the successful delivery ahead of schedule.
