CSSC Secures Annually First VLCC Order from Greek Owner

Qingdao/Athens, 5 January 2026– China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (‘CSTC’) and CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (‘QBS’) have been awarded a contract by Cape Shipping for the construction of up to two VLCCs. The contract was signed via a virtual ceremony.
These vessels are designed to be among the most fuel-efficient in the global crude oil fleet, supporting the Greek owner’s strategic entry into the crude oil shipping market.
This project is not only a major vote of confidence in QBS for the design and construction of VLCC, but also underscores CSSC’s leadership in oil tanker building and QBS’s ability to accelerate delivery of critical technical capability. The VLCCs will be completed in 2028 and 2029.
