CSSC Wins First Annual Product Tankers Order from European Shipowner

On January 16, 2026, China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC) and CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (DSIC) signed shipbuilding contracts with a renowned European shipowner for 2 firm plus 2 option units of 114,000 DWT product tankers, marking CSSC’s first product tanker order in 2026.
This project features DSIC’s in-house newly developed green and eco-friendly LR2 design. The vessel’s overall performance and energy efficiency have been further upgraded and optimized, thus fully complying with the latest standards set by international major oil companies and oil traders.
DSIC has built a core competitive advantage in the Aframax/LR2 segment with sophisticated technological innovation capabilities and production capacity. With the inking of this deal, DSIC’s orderbook for Aframax/LR2 has expanded further, ranking first globally in terms of order volume for this ship type.
As the first product tanker order secured in 2026, this project further solidifies CSSC’s global leading position in building large and medium-sized tankers.

Recently, China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC) and CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (QBS) have inked a contract with a renowned Greek owner for the construction of one Suezmax tanker. This latest deal brings the total number of QBS’s Suezmax orders to three, marking the significant entry of the shipyard into this key ship type newbuilding segment.
