CSTC & CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding (QBS) , two subsidiaries of CSSC, have secured an order for the construction of two Ammonia-ready Newcastlemax bulk carriers from a famous shipowner in Europe.
The vessel is 300 meters in length of overall, 50 meters in breadth meeting the latest requirements of Tier III emission standard of the IMO, EEDI Phase III as well as ABS notation of Ammonia Fuel Ready Level 2D (S).
As ammonia contains no carbon and doesn't emit any CO2 when used to fuel an internal combustion engine, it turns to be one of the promising zero-carbon fuels that could help achieve IMO's goal of reducing emissions by 50% by 2050 compared to 2008.
CSTC & QBS work closely with the shipowner, ABS, the first-class ship management company and system suppliers to offer the green solution in preparing for the future operation of ammonia fueled vessels, which could help achieve early decarbonization of the fleet.
