Information

On March 4, 2022, CSTC, in conjunction with Jiangnan Shipyard, two subsidiaries of CSSC, signed a contract with Pacific International Lines (PTE) Ltd., PIL, for four 14000TEU LNG dual-fuel Container Ships.

As Jiangnan Shipyard's own-designed vessel, it carries entirely exclusive intellectual property rights resulting from its independent research and development. With total length of 355m, width of 51m, depth of 30m, and scantling draft of 17m, the ship meets the requirements of Tier III and EEDI III, since it is powered by a marine LNG dual-fuel engine considered to be energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. In comparison to heavy oil, LNG fuel can reduce emissions such as sulfur, fine particles, nitrogen dioxide, and carbon dioxide, as well as reducing the release of methane greatly. Having been a pioneer and proponent in promoting the R&D of 'zero' carbon emitting vessels with shipbuilding industry partners, Jiangnan Shipyard is actively encouraging the upgrading of such 'zero' carbon vessels. In addition to being compatible with ammonia, the vessel will have the Ammonia Ready class notation. The fuel tank can be loaded with both LNG and ammonia. Furthermore, the design of  the fuel tank could decrease the probability of future modification costs and improve the practicability and flexibility.

PIL was founded by Chang Yun Chung in 1967, becoming the largest box liner company in Singapore. Currently, PIL boasts several routes in East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, South America and Oceania, making it the 12th largest container liner company in the world.

It was a milestone contract signing for PIL, marking its return to the new shipbuilding market after a 7-year absence. Independent research and development by Jiangnan Shipyard on LNG dual-fuel boxship are leading the choice for PIL. It highlights the capability of Jiangnan Shipyard in designing and building large container vessels. Meanwhile, PIL has proven its trust worthiness to both Jiangnan Shipyard and CSTC. Additionally, the ordering of LNG dual-fuel container ships also demonstrates both parties' commitment to sustainable development and their sense of social responsibility.
