More than 10 Billion RMB! The First Quarter Ended Perfectly! CSSC Takes the Largest Container Ship Order

(Summary description)On 31st March 2021, China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd (DSIC), and Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd. (GSI), all being subsidiaries of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited(CSSC), successfully secured an order for 13 units of 16,000 TEU container ships, with a total amount of more than 10 billion RMB. This order became into effective immediately upon signing of the Contract, and is the largest container ship order won by CSSC, which marked a major achievements of CSSC in exploring commercial ship market and products’ transformation and upgrading after its reorganization and integration, and drew a successful end to CSSC’s marine business marketing in the first quarter of 2021.

On 31st March 2021, China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd (DSIC), and Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd. (GSI), all being subsidiaries of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited(CSSC), successfully secured an order for 13 units of 16,000 TEU container ships, with a total amount of more than 10 billion RMB. This order became into effective immediately upon signing of the Contract, and is the largest container ship order won by CSSC, which marked a major achievements of CSSC in exploring commercial ship market and products’ transformation and upgrading after its reorganization and integration, and drew a successful end to CSSC’s marine business marketing in the first quarter of 2021.

The series of container ships are designed by Marine Design & Research Institute of China (MDRIC) under CSSC. Seven units of them will be constructed by DSIC and six units by GSI. All of these container ships will have WinGD main engine, the independent brand of CSSC. These container ships have a Length about 366m and a Breadth Moulded of 51m, and can carry more than 16,000 standard containers. It is a type of green, high-efficiency and energy-saving large container ship, installed with a Scrubber tower, is LNG ready, and adopts a new concept of environmental protection, carbon reduction and resistance reduction design, which fully meets the latest environmental emission standards.

In the first quarter of this year, the container market picked up rapidly and a number of large container ship orders were made worldwide. In order to seize such opportunity, CSSC gives full play to the restructuring and integration effect and actively implements the strategy of centralized marketing and precision marketing. CSSC top management pays high attention to and directly commands container ship marketing, Directorate General of Marine Products actively organizes and coordinates to all major activities, and give full play to the role of CSTC as the centralized marketing platform to organize CSSC’s design units, backbone shipyards, supporting enterprises etc., highlight CSSC’s strong strength in large container ship research and development, design, construction, and supporting service. This order makes Chinese independent brand very colorful in the international market once again.

The signing of this order has further enhanced the market status and brand effect of CSSC in the field of building large container ships, further consolidated the close cooperation relationship between CSSC and the world mainstream liner companies, and provided solid support for Chinese independent shipbuilding brand to play a leading role in the international market. This is also an important embodiment of CSSC to promote the domestic and international “dual circulation”, and actively integrate into the new development pattern.
