On January 28th 2022, the world’s first 209,000 DWT LNG dual-fuel bulk carrier was delivered to Singapore Owner Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte. Ltd. (EPS) by CSTC and SWS, two subsidiaries of CSSC. Representatives of EPS, SWS and CSTC signed the delivery documents.

The delivered vessel is the world’s first 209,000 DWT LNG dual-fuel bulk carrier and is also the leading ship of the project between EPS and CSTC, together with SWS which has proprietary intellectual property rights of the vessel. With a total length of 299.5meters, width of 50meters, design draft of 18.4meters, and speed of 14 knots, the vessel is powered by LNG and conventional diesel fuel equipped with two C-type LNG fuel tanks with range of 20,000 nautical miles, which can meet the shipping requirements of two round-trips from China to Australia or one round-trip from China to Brazil at a time.
In LNG-fueled mode, the ship has basically eliminated particulate matter and sulfide emissions, and the EEDI has been reduced by 41% compared to the baseline, meeting the requirements of the IMO Tier Phase 4 specification and featuring green, environmental, energy saving and safety.

The project was contracted at the end of 2019 and experienced difficulties such as epidemic situation and travel restrictions. However, CSTC and SWS actively communicated with the ship owner to overcome the difficulties and made the world’s first LNG dual-fuel Newcastle bulk carrier delivered two months ahead of the contract delivery date. The smooth delivery of the vessel reflects CSTC's ability to the layout of the dual-fuel market in advance and grasp the market opportunity, and has achieved gratifying results and illustrates independent and core development and design capabilities of SWS in large dual-fuel bulk carrier field and further consolidated the first Chinese brand in the constructions of large bulk carriers and the lion market share of SWS. Moreover, this assists high-quality development of CSSC and reflects the responsibility of CSSC to achieve carbon neutrality.
